This painting emerged out of Gina Werfel's new interest in Asian painting and calligraphy and her experiments with the white paper to create a spatial envelope.
Pieces of collage, both printed and hand painted shapes created spatial markers in the works in juxtaposition to the painted and drawn marks. Stencils of common objects appear as fragmentary grids.
