Complete original German edition of "Carnet de la Californie" by Pablo Picasso, published in 1960 by M. DuMont Schauberg Köln in collaboration with Editions Cercle d’Art. This deluxe facsimile volume reproduces the artist's 1955 sketchbook, created at his villa “La Californie” in Cannes. The edition includes 39 lithographic plates (17 in color), faithfully reproduced by Mourlot Frères using traditional lithographic techniques.
This is not a commercial offset reprint – the lithographs were printed in high-quality facsimile under the supervision of the artist’s preferred atelier, Mourlot, and include fine pencil, ink, and pastel reproductions. The book comes in its original slipcase, complete with the spiral-bound sketchbook and booklet with text by Georges Boudaille. Numbered copy from a limited German edition of 500 (this one: D246).
